Letters To The Editor

Now this is the way news ought to look. It has a familiarity that is comforting and it’s easy to navigate. It doesn’t look like a newspaper trying to imitate a website, it looks like a newspaper. Good work, and thanks for keeping us informed on what goes on in Beaufort and Port Royal without all of the popup BS.

Dear Sir or Ma’am.
Out f’n standing! please pardon the language and the early time of day. I’m an old jarhead who still gets up at O-dark-thirty. I live in a small farming town in Iowa, and we haven’t had a newspaper here for several years now. I am a retired Marine and was stationed at Beaufort twice during my career, 6 years at the air station, and a little over 3 years of DI duty at PI. I’ve never been able to break the habit of reading the paper every morning, and since we don’t have one, I read the ones from my other hometown, Beaufort. Doing that would be boring or laughable if I didn’t have your paper to read. I browse over three of them every morning, and yours is the only one I pay much attention to. One seems to be a Hilton Head paper, and the third one has more begging for money all over the place than news of any kind. I can read yours and get some news, follow the local sports that my boys played there, and there’s always good conversations on your forums. I like the Yesteryears part too.
I got up this morning and brought up your paper, and at first I thought I was in the wrong place. When I took a good look I realized that you had changed everything. It looks like a real live newspaper now and man, does it bring back good memories. I have to say, it’s great to read the news from someplace that doesn’t look like a website. You guys are squared away!!!!!

Dear Sirs,
I’ve been reading your newspaper for several months now and it has become my primary source for Beaufort news. I’ve noticed a lot of changes recently and have found them very useful. I live on Daufuskie Island and must rely on on the ferry and the tides to get on and off of the island. Your tide charts have become a real life saver for me. My favorite section of your paper is the Yesteryears section, I love it! I never knew there was another swing bridge downtown before the present one, and I thought the land the park is on was always there. Great work, keep it coming!

I thought I would write to tell you how important websites like yours really are. I’m a former Marine who is presently working for a private contractor in Iraq. I was stationed a Parris Island for several years and came to know Beaufort as home while I was there. It still is home in a large sense and we plan to resettle there after I’ve retired from my civilian job. It is difficult to stay abreast of what’s happening in Beaufort when I’m so far away, and your publication has really become a lifeline for me. I’ve been here for nearly two years now and had seen a real drop in news coverage in Beaufort until a friend told me about your website. It really brightens my day to read the latest news from you each day.
Keep up the great work!
