Beaufort City Police responded to reports of shots being fired in the Town Center Shopping Center (K-Mart) parking lot at approximately 6 pm this evening.

Early reports indicate that two shooters were involved and that a .380 caliber handgun has been recovered. It is unknown at this time whether anyone was injured as a result of the shots that were fired.

Two suspects are in custody after a brief but arduous foot chase through the former Greenlawn neighborhood. Fleet-footed Beaufort Police Corporal, Ray Heroux, is credited with apprehending and subduing at least one of the suspects.

One of the suspects is reported to have requested medical treatment for injuries sustained during the incident. The nature and cause of his alleged injuries have  not yet been confirmed.
