ROBERTA WILLIS ADAMS, 83, of Beaufort, S.C., died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Bay View Manor. She was born in Bryson City, North Carolina a daughter of the late Herman and Ethal Hyatt Willis. Roberta “June” Adams lived an adventurous, fun, and full life. She loved the outdoors and especially fishing. She is survived by two daughters, Fran Glass and April Adams, both of Beaufort, S.C.; two sons, Michael Carbonell of Melbourne, FL; Bill Adams of Cocoa, FL; seven grandchildren, Kami Woodruff, Carolyne Adams, Ashleigh Adams, Jeanine Adams, Abby Carbonell, Nathan Adams, Erin Adams and six great-grandchildren. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A private family service will held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice Care of America, 1800 Paris Avenue, Port Royal, S.C. 29935. Copeland Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

LOIS ELAINE LOWERY, 68, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 18, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Eunice and Inman Floyd of Tillman, SC. Before moving to the Ridgeland Nursing Center seven years ago, Lois loved taking part in her church and making arts and crafts for her family and friends. She appreciated and enjoyed the staff and friends at the Nursing Home. A special thanks goes to the wonderful people on A wing that gave her such excellent care, and to Mary Barton, we can never say thank you enough for always going the extra mile. Lois was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Carol, a brother, Marvin (Liza) Floyd, and a sister, Gladys (Allison) Fickling. She is survived by one son Andy Lowery of Danville, AL; two sisters, a twin, Eunice (Claude) Spilliards and Barbara Kearson; a brother, James Edwin (Linda) Floyd and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Great Swamp Baptist Church in Ridgeland, SC with burial in Floyd Cemetery, Tillman, SC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the hour of service at the church. The family request memorial donations be made to the Ridgeland Nursing Center, PO Box 1570, Ridgeland, SC 29936. Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family with their arrangements.

JEAN MILDRED LEON HOLDEN, 84, widow of George W. Holden, Jr., died Sunday, January 17, 2010 in Bayview Manor. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 6-8pm at Anderson Funeral Home.Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 1:00pm in Carl Anderson MemorialChapel with burial in Beaufort Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Holden was born on April 14, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA. She is the daughter of the late Joseph Charles Leon and Victoria Allen Leon. Mrs. Holden was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church. Surviving are one son, George J. Holden of Beaufort, SC and one daughter, Letitia Jean Lee of Orange Park, FL and one grandson, Patrick Andrew Lee of Orange Park, FL and two sisters of Tallahassee, FL.

JOHN EDWARD KENDALL, 62, husband of Sharron Sharp Kendall, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at his residence on Dataw Island, SC. Celebration of John’s life will be on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 4-6pm at The Old Towne Coffeehaus, 914 Paris Ave., Port Royal, SC 29935, 379-2332. Mr. Kendall was born on November 8, 1947 in Ekron, KY. He is the son of Martha Meyer Bugg. Mr. Kendall was a member of the Sea Island Presbyterian Church. He was a Chemical Engineer with Union Carbide Corp. He served our country in the Air National Guard. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville Speed School of Engineering. He coached girl’s church basketball and girl’s AAU Basketball Teams. Surviving in addition to his wife, Sharron and his mother, Martha both of Dataw Island, SC; are one daughter, Jaime Jones and husband John Jones of Elkview, West VA and one brother, Bennie L. Kendall, Jr.,and wife Jeanne Kendall of Louisville, KY and two grandchildren, Garrett and Zackary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice, 1110 13th Street, Port Royal, SC 29935. Anderson Funeral Home is serving the family.
